ACR is short for air conditioning and refrigeration, type ACR tube means the copper tube used for ACR fields. The nominal size of type ACR tube is equal to its actual outside diameter.
DWV (drain, waste, andvent) copper tube is designated by ASTM standard, the actual outside diameter of this kind of tube always 1/8 inch larger than the standard size designation.
Type K, L, M and DWV copper tubes are designated in ASTM standard sizes. Copper pipe of these types has an actual outside diameter that 1/8 inch larger than norminal size. For example, 1/4 norminal tyoe K pipe's actual O.D. is 3/8 inches (1/4+1/8).
